Senichev Lab at UMBC
Welcome to Quantum Light Sources and Nanophotonics (QLSN) group at UMBC! Our group investigates quantum light sources and nanoscale light-matter interactions, with particular emphasis on quantum emitters, optically addressable spin defects, and their integration with nanophotonic structures and photonic circuits. We study how the host material and local environment affect the optical and spin properties of quantum emitters, and how engineered photonic structures can tailor their emission and coupling to optical modes. Our experiments combine confocal microscopy, optical spectroscopy, photon-correlation measurements, and free-space and fiber-coupled measurements of integrated photonic circuits, including studies at cryogenic temperatures and under applied magnetic fields. These measurements connect emitter behavior to its material and photonic environment and guide the development of controllable quantum light sources and spin-photon interfaces for quantum communication, sensing, and information processing.
